Welcome to DeepWater Kids

Here at DeepWater we are passionate about the next generation.  As a faith family we are committed to investing in children on Sundays and our goal is that your child would excitedly ask throughout the week "Is today church day?!"  We want children at DeepWater to be encouraged by volunteers, enjoy time with friends, learn more about the Good News and God's Word and have lots of fun doing all of these things.

We also desire to encourage parents and grandparents to lead their children spiritually and make faith meaningful in the home.  We look forward to welcoming you and your child to be a part of the DW Kids Ministry.

DeepWater Kids Ministry meets each* Sunday during the 5pm worship service.  Children 5K-5th grade will join the adults in the worship service beginning at 5pm and will participate in the opening worship song, announcements, and normally another worship song.  Having our older children in the service allows them to worship alongside their parents/grandparents and for us to join the generations.  *On the 5th Sundays of the year and for certain holidays (Christmas & Easter) we do not have 5K-5th grade ministry, but instead have our children in the main worship service.

Hello! I'm Angelica & I can't wait to meet you!

Hi Parent, thank you so much for checking out our Kid's Ministry page!

A little about me is that I am from Charlotte, NC and I moved here to the Charleston area recently.  I became a follower of Jesus when I was a child and following him has been the best part of my life.  My family began attending DeepWater and we enjoy the faith family atmosphere, it is warm and kind and people are real.  For as long as I can remember I have loved working with children and so when the opportunity to teach children about Jesus came about at DeepWater I had to pursue it.  I began in this position in June of 2019 and cannot tell you how much I enjoy coming each Sunday to spend time with our DeepWater kiddos.  I also feel a great sense of responsibility to have our children in a place where both the children and their parents feel safe.

I love my job because I have an incredible opportunity to help build a foundation of faith in our children...and to have lots of fun in the process!  Also, I get to partner with parents, who have the greatest calling to grow a child's faith.  I so look forward to what God has before us as a church and as a ministry, may God bless you!  I look forward to hopefully meeting you and your child this Sunday at DeepWater!  Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to arrange to meet on a Sunday before things get started - Angelica@deepwaterchurch.cc

How early can I check my child-in?

Check-In starts at 4:45

Who will be watching the children?

Our “Crew Members” (volunteers) will be watching children each Sunday. All Crew are required to have a secure background check and pass Ministry Safe training online before able to serve with the children.

How many Crew Members will be assigned per child?

Our ratios are as follows…

Babies: 1 Adult: 2 Babies

Walkers: 1 Adult: 3 Walkers

Toddlers: 1 Adult: 4 Toddlers

Elementary: 1 Adult: 5 Students

How are the rooms divided?

Babies (non-walking), Walkers (walking - 2),

Toddlers (3s-4s), Elementary (5K - 5th grade).

What is your safety procedure?

We use a security sticker process. Upon Check-In, one parent will receive a sticker and the same sticker will go on the child’s back. When picking a child-up a Crew Member will ask for your sticker and make sure the unique security code on the parent and child sticker match before giving the child away. If someone other than the parent is picking up the child, just let the Check-In Crew know and we will make arrangements!

What will go on during Children’s Ministry?

DeepWater Kids uses Orange curriculum for our lessons on Sundays. The different age groups watch an age appropriate video or skit, have the lesson read, taught or reviewed fromt he Bible, followed by a short small group discussion time and activity/craft. There will also be time for Goldfish and free play on the playground! At DW Kids, we LOVE to sing our hearts out to God - there will be time integrated for our children to sing and dance.

How do I get my child involved with DW Kids?

On Sunday’s come to the Check-In table and let a Crew Member know you’re new to the church! We will have you fill out some basic information, show you around our ministry area, and guide your child into their assigned room.

Will there be snacks?

Yes! We will be serving Goldfish. If your child cannot eat Goldfish or if you prefer them to have a different snack, please let a Check-In Crew Member or Angelica know and we will make accommodations. You’re always welcome to provide alternate snacks in a diaper bag, or in a Ziplock with their name on it!

What additional opportunities are offered kids?

Great question!  During the school year we are looking to have a few events or gathering for our children and we will publish those dates to parents.

Additionally in the summer have Vacation Bible School and a summer camp for our current 3rd-5th graders.
